Worcester Video Premiere Night

Words by Jacob Folsom-Fraster

On the first evening of the year, we threw a video premiere packed with promos, edits, and full lengths from skaters across the Greater Worcester area. The Central MA skate scene showed out, dragging their friends and loved ones along to be bombarded with 102 minutes and 27 seconds of skate videos, not made by professionals, pretty much all in a row. For us skaters it was a wonderful reunion, and a good reason to leave the house during these cold winter months. But hey, you probably couldn’t make it or didn’t know about it or don’t really care about what’s going on down in Worcester, so here’s a couple of the featured videos that folks came out to see.

After an onslaught of promos and short edits, Nick Franks presented a 13 minute banger titled Howdy Cowboy. These guys get creative, these guys get tech, these guys jump off shit, and these guys have fun. Outside of everyone killing it in the montages, we got to see some clips from the Central MA OG Nate Keegan, and a really solid part from Elijah Core; bring this dude to any spot he’ll get a clip, I swear!

The night came to a close with my video OUTLINE, a 38 minute full length with footage I filmed mostly between 2018 and 2021. I’ve seen Worcester change quite a bit since I came here 8 years ago, and I filmed quite a bit in the city as it’s changed, so I weaved some of that story into the video. On top of my buddies killing the crusty streets of Worcester, peep some of the fun we had down at “The Bridge”, some rowdy rides with 508 Bikelife, and our exploration of all the new spots built alongside that giant, ugly baseball stadium resting in the heart of the Commonwealth.

Huge shout out to all the friends and family who made it through all 8 videos, all the contributing filmmakers, and especially Redemption Rock Brewery for shutting off that football game and letting me take over the HDMI for a couple hours!
