“That Day” with Cooper Qua

Photos by Trevor Culley

I heard this waterpark that’s about an hour away from Albany had recently closed. Some homies and I decided to take a trip up to the area and check it out and find other spots too. Found some other little banks and ledges but the waterpark was the main goal. I thought I’d be skating a pool instead of the slide though. Had to put a board and a sign to stop my board from going in the water if it happened to get away from me. Previous to trying this trick my buddy Dylan’s board went in and he went for a dip. Also, at the start of every try I had to duck under this wood support thing to get around the corner, little sketch. We got out fast because we assumed it would be a big bust if we got caught in there. I love how the photo came out! Trev killed it!

This spot is like a block from my house at this school, kinda in an area that doesn’t get much skating. I did this ollie a couple times, one or two for video and a couple trying to get the photo. Crew on this sesh was sick! The flatground sesh after was mad fun. My friend Caleb almost got smoked by a car like five minutes after this though. Just casually skating flat and this dude flies down the road and from my angle I thought he was getting hit for sure! Luckily he didn’t.

My homie Collin from Calmcorp was in Albany for a day so I had to get out and get some clips for the video, Bluebird. This 50-50 has been on my list to do for a minute. This spot is one of the higher bust spots in Albany so we had to go on a Sunday, closer to the end of the day. I tried one while it was raining a little, and since it’s marble it’s super slippery. I slipped out on a try and got a pretty bad charliehorse on the edge of the ledge. Right after I landed this it downpoured. We hid under a restaurant awning for a little while and just fucked around till it cleared up. Local homies were on the sesh too. Tommy, Pat, Caleb, and of course Trev!
