Zoli, an OG FDR photographer and good friend, had been encouraging me to film with Ron, a drone pilot, for some time. I was skeptical at first but tried to keep an open mind.  Ron shows up to Bud Baum’s birthday party and starts zipping his drone around, freestyle filming everyone at FDR. A few days later, when I saw the footage, I was truly amazed by Ron’s capability. He not only followed our lines without any explicit guidance, but he also encapsulated the vibrant atmosphere of FDR in a way I had never seen before.

Nowadays, he tells me skateboarding is one of the hardest things to film, and that gets him stoked. On our rides home, we would be giddy over whatever clip we got, already bouncing new ideas off each other. It was so refreshing to connect with someone on this level who was not a skater. The more I got to know him, the more I saw that familiar energy all skaters have. He found a passion and designed a rad life around it. He owns his own company and travels around to all different kinds of gigs from real estate to pole dancing, and now to whatever I’m dragging him into.

The resulting video portrays a harmonious fusion of passions on the gorgeous stage that is FDR. Ron and I were lucky enough to connect and create something that inspires both of us. We hope you have as much fun watching the video as we had making it.
