Sk8 Supply Philly Trip

We left Virginia at about 6:30 Friday evening, and opted to take Highway 13 up the Eastern Shore towards Philadelphia, instead of I-95. The trip included closing up the shop (Skate Supply is a core shop in the Hampton Roads area) renting a van and bringing along the whole squad: team riders, employees, and a few prospects as well.

For many of the boys on the trip, this was their first time skating in Philly, so the van ride up consisted of phone screens flashing footage from the likes of Oyola, Reason, and Suciu. We rolled into Center City around 1am, and chose to skate Love. We all stretched our legs, and the session started popping off, with only one board going into the fountain. To make our time even better, Stevie Williams happened to be hanging out on one of the ledges with some homies, and let us know he was stoked that we made the drive up and to keep up the good work.

That was enough motivation for our boy Nick to start skating the pink planter from flat, which pumped everyone up. The entire crew ended up getting clips that night, and after an exhausting night of hardly sleeping, we hit the streets again bright and early Saturday. After a brief manny pad sesh in a random parking lot while some of the guys woke up, the van rolled to Paine’s to warm up a little bit more.

Clips were stacked as we all fed off of each other’s energy, and after a couple hours we headed towards the Delaware River to film at Penn’s Landing. After getting the boot, we decided to roll back to Love, where we got to enjoy a bust free session for a few hours. We drove back to the hotel, and eventually out to dinner, where we surprised Scott, Tyler, and Colby by putting them on the team (congrats boys!).

We were woken up bright and early the next day when the hotel fire alarm went off, apparently because of burning popcorn, and the fire department showed up to extinguish whatever the source was. We headed up to 8th and Poplar to warm up, but soon realized we were going to stay for a while.

After a spending the morning there, we cruised to Muni where we had a great sesh for the majority of the day. After a few hours, jakes showed up, and everyone took off. It was getting late, and we hopped in the van and headed up to Baldi Middle for our final spot. After getting a clip or two, we headed back south, only stopping to grab some steaks from Pat’s, and then jumping back on 95 south towards Norfolk.

The weekend was rad, and the shop hopes to take more trips to other cities soon in the future. Big thanks to Philly for having us.
