I bought my first (and only) house in winter of 2003. That spring we started construction on the Hoodlum mini. Our mastermind was Randy Bednarz, a local genius and old school skater who used to manage a skateshop.

With his building ingenuity and the laboring of myself and fellow skaters, it took about a month to erect this monstrous backyard ramp of 4 feet high and 20 feet wide, with a 4 foot extension and an 8 foot party deck. This year we had to replace the flat bottom and cut the party deck down to the regular 4 feet after weathering storms and almost 10 years of shredding.

We’ve set it on fire, set off mild explosives on it, skated the hell out of it, and it still stands with little maintenance and repairs. To add to the fun we built a deck off our house that you can skate down one side to a little decline and over a gap or set up a rail on to some pavement.

All kinds of homies have stopped by to shred. It’s been a blast and a great reason to have a keg party. Thanks to all the homies who skated it and helped build it. To another 10 years, and see you at the next party…
