Mud 6

Video and words by Dawsyn Gerfen

For Mud‘s sixth full length video, we really wanted to showcase just how bad we are at skating. We traveled coast to coast across the U.S. between 2021 and 2022 with our friends filming basically any clip that someone wanted to get, no matter how hard or easy. The whole point of the video is that even if you’re young, old, washed up, just learning, work a full-time job, go to school, or have a family, you can still stack a clip and put together a fun video to entertain your homies.

We always premiere our videos at Directive, our local skate shop in town. We try to keep the videos and premieres engaging for everyone. It’s not about the skating, it’s about having fun with your friends. At previous premieres we had a dunk tank inside the store, and one year we filled a pool up with mud and had mud wrestling. This year we hired a mobile petting zoo to show up at the shop. The guy pulls up in a tiny little sedan all kitted out to safely house his animals. He brings a mini horse, a donkey, a pig, a goat, and some ducks.

The idea was to have the animals behind the store in the parking lot and have it all fenced off, but last minute the weather changed and it ended up snowing on premiere night. We emptied the shop of all the product and let the animals run loose inside all night…it was wild to say the least. We kept it as clean as we could, but nothing prepared us for the smell of the store the next day when we had to reorganize and clean the store. Huge shoutout to Directive.
