Beer City, Brew City, Cream City, or The Brew, are a few names the locals have for Wisconsin’s largest city. Milwaukee has always had a solid skate scene, dating back to the late 70s when Surfin’ Turf Skatepark (later, the Turf) opened with five different indoor pools to skate. The two family-owned local shops Phase 2 and Sky High have been holding it down for over twenty years, and Cream City Skatepark completely built and run by skaters, for skaters has been around for close to a decade.
Estabrook Park is the local DIY spot, conveniently located next to a beer garden and the Milwaukee river perfect for catching that lunker salmon. Downtown Milwaukee has plenty of spots too, but night missions and wearing dark clothes are highly recommended. Wiskate.com is an outlet for local skate media and has been spotlighting locals since November 1998. Milwaukee is a nicely centered hub with Chicago and Madison nearby and is easily accessible for some quick road tripping. End your session at Milwaukee’s lakefront with a cool dip, a sixer, and wet your line for dinner!
