Curb Spot

How exactly does one describe a place that is essentially the perfect location for a movie about a troll living under a bridge?

Ray Sykes, nosegrind

Perpetually damp, smelly, and more often than not, garbage laden…this is curbspot, or known to Instagram location services as “Holland Tunnel Traffic Jam.”

Joe Katulak, pivot

Located underneath what is the fnal stop of the NJ Turnpike’s Jersey City exit leading into the Holland Tunnel, this is our hideaway. What started out as a little layer of wax on a curb has become a little low impact paradise for our aging, yet somehow still die-hard, skate community here.

Years back, a quick DIY quarter was built up to one of the pillars, which laid the groundwork for acceptance of small little hits of concrete here and there.

Larry Larstana, smith

After our little DIY paradise affectionately known as the “JUNK SPOT” was destroyed by the city, this became the new spot for small quik-crete bank to curbs and things of that nature.

Braad Wyatt, hurricane

Over the past few years, and countless layers of wax later, this place has become a fun spot to scratch the skate itch, have a few cold ones, and now that the city has installed lights under the highway, get the ever sought after night session.

Bill Marshall, kickflip fakie

As we get older, going out on filming missions or getting the crew together becomes harder and harder, so this little slice of bum piss covered land becomes our safe bet for a quick sesh. On any given day you will see rappers filming music videos, car nerds shooting photos, or homeless people up to nefarious activities.

So whether you’re cruising out after work, meeting up to hit spots in the area, or getting a full on session, this place will surely provide a good time.

Brad Wyatt, tailblock

Please keep it clean, and if you’re lucky enough to see one, do not feed the troll or give it one of your warm beers.
