Bright Days in Miami

To get away from the snow on the East Coast, and celebrate our new collaboration with OJ, we decided to bring some homies to Miami. It just so happened that almost every other group of skaters had the same idea. DC, Scumco, and Bronze heads were all there to name a few.

We invited Fred Gall who invited Ghost, Paul Gar, BA, and Kev, so they got their own Airbnb and would meet up. We also brought John Gardner, Brian O’Dwyer, Jake Keenan, Jordan and Zach Gesko, Jahmir Brown and Rico Abdou-Essa ended up crashing with us as well and were welcome additions to the van. We didn’t realize it, but almost everyone we were with had a cover of Skate Jawn (Freddy, Zachy, Jordan, Brian O, Jahmir, Jake, and John twice).

From the airport we went straight to Lot 11, a beast of an East Coast park, while we waited for John to land. We waited out rush hour while homies filmed in the bowl before dropping our stuff at the house. The airbnb was dope up until the plumbers came and it started to smell like sewage. Then people came to install cameras, then other people showed up and sprayed pesticides around us as we were eating breakfast outside, asking us if they could spray in the bedrooms real quick. Then the plumbers showed back up and cut a hole in the floor. We offered all of these people weed, but none of them accepted. There were spots at the house too, a bump to bar John hippy hopped and Brian ollied on the last night, and a plam tree V John jumped through too.

On the last night Freddy’s crew came to our spot to grill. BA and Ghosty cleaned the whole kitchen before going to work making a huge pot of ceviche, while Jake manned the grill outside. It was all delicious, but way too much food. Luckily right after the chefs left, some of the Scumco squad showed up to eat all the leftovers within twenty minutes.

It rained one of the days we were there, but the following day it rained money from the luxury high-rise we were skating under. We stopped for a minute to catch the $20’s falling from the sky, then kept cruising downtown over $100 richer. Earlier that same day we had a parking lot attendant help us clean up a spot, stop people from parking in our run up, and he even gave us all Snickers bars. We finished the day with an hour sesh at Orange Peels, no kick out.

One of our first destinations was Bum Park, a DIY on it’s second life that we heard was getting torn out soon. We had a heavy session at the start of the trip and stopped back our last night for a few more rips. Two days later we see it’s been completely leveled. At least we got there while we could, and thank you Tyler, Eric, and everyone else for the hospitality.

Overall we had great luck in Miami and our days stayed bright. It could have been the barberry root, it could have been the weed or the fresh fruit, or maybe it was just the vibes, but all in all the people were great, the spots were great, it rained money, we got clips, hung out with some animals, and had some bright days. Thanks OJ and thanks to all the locals in South Florida.
