Lizard Chamber

Video by Tone Marcus. Photos and interview by Evan Hutchings.

Name, age, where do you live?

Tone, Deeeeeeeetroit, Michigan BABY!!!

How long were you making Lizard Chamber?

Lizard Chamber was filmed in three years. It feels like an eternity.

What’s up with the intro?

I’d like to think of it as a representation of how I’ve lost my faith in God. You can interpret it however you want, same goes for the hanging scene.

What cameras did you use?

We actually used a mix of cameras. Panasonic DVC 30, a shitty Sony TRV, and a VHS cam. There’s a few VX clips in there though. I started using the PowerPlay DVR toward the end of the video. That helped a lot with the capturing process.

Craziest story while filming this vid?

Ah I don’t think I could claim one story, but it’s certainly entertaining to have a lot of friends that are always getting rowdy, something funny is gonna happen every time. Breaking tables, smashing beer bottles, throwing fireworks at each other probably won’t ever get old. Invite us to your house.

Your favorite part of filming/making a video?

It’s definitely fun making a video and getting input from homies. I am pretty hard headed and do not like to change the edit, but eventually my friends convince me to change or tweak something for the better.

Favorite part or trick in the video?

100% the party section at the end of the video. Most of those clips were filmed at our house and will always be fun to look back on it. We listen to a lot of Zappa so it worked pretty good.

What’s up with the zine who made it?

Everyone had a million ideas for the zine but no one actually followed through except for Stelly. He put a lot of work into and had a bunch of photos in it alongside Evan.

Any future plans? Another video?

Most likely make smaller more consistent edits but who knows! Having a video worthy of a premier is so much fun and worth the effort. Beats an Insta edit for sure.
